OYM Day 68: Abby Moon

I missed yesterday, but with good reason. I had decided to write early in the day yesterday and had a few paragraphs done. I was going to write about my lifetime of extreme good and bad luck. And sure enough, the days events gave me another example to add to the list.

Yesterday, we got a dog. We weren’t supposed to get a dog. The dog was to be adopted by someone else, but then we got a phone call, and sure enough, we have a dog.

Her name is Abby. Abby Moon. My daughter wanted to name her Moon, which I loved, because every day she looks for it in the sky. But I’ve heard 2 syllable names are better for training, so we came up with Abby.

We know very little about her and the shelter couldn’t tell us much either. She’s 7 weeks old and that’s all we know.

I will admit that I am terrified and feel many similarities to bringing home a human baby for the first time, but it leads me to believe that the pay off will also be great, as it very much is with my child.

Did I just compare a dog to a kid? I swear to God if any of you see me driving around with a “who saved who” bumper sticker, you have permission to drive me off the side of the road.
