OYM Day 66: Plans for the day

Today, I’ll eat spinach for every meal. Today I’ll listen to music around the clock. Today I’ll cover my whole body in lotion more than once. Today I’ll learn a new word and use it. Today I’ll twist my hair into waves and ride them like the slow passing hours. Today I’ll buy a bag of vegetables and study each one before tossing it into my basket. Today I’ll do cartwheels and handstands, and relish the way the blood flowing back into my body feels like seeds in a rain stick. Today I’ll drink enough water to drown a town with a broken dam. Today I’ll look at cabins in California and pick the one that looks the most back in time. Today I’ll read a book and suck on a lemon wedge. Today I’ll light my favorite red currant candle and breathe in the smell that I believe is the best in the whole world. Today I will not think about my body. Today I will not think about the future. Today will not think about the past. Today will be as new and as fresh as not knowing the difference.

Remember what it feels like to run as fast as you can? Jump as high as you can? Spin until you fall over? Remember what it feels like to weave quickly through the night? With a plan? Or no plan at all but a veil of possibilities spread thinly before you? The smell of dew and cold air just before the sun comes up?

I do. I will do it all today.
